Dr. Dauben served as the General Chairman of the SPE/DOE Thirteenth Symposium on Improved Oil Recovery held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This meeting is considered to be the premier symposium in the world on improved oil recovery technologies.

The symposium was an outstanding success. Over 600 persons attended the event, representing 32 different countries. A record number of 42 booths were sold, including 3 countries outside of the United States. The number of technical sessions was also increased. The goals of increased international participation, an expanded technical scope, and a move to a new hotel were achieved.

The next IOR symposium has been tentatively scheduled for April 17-21, 2004.
