Dr. Dauben served as the General Chairman of the SPE/DOE Thirteenth Symposium on Improved Oil Recovery held in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2002. This meeting is considered to be the premier symposium in the world on improved oil recovery technologies. He has also served on the steering committee for symposiums held in 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. The next symposium is scheduled for April 2012. Dr. Dauben received the prestigious “IOR Pioneer Award” at the symposium held on April 19-23, 2008. He, along with four other recipients, received this award in recognition of his long-term efforts in the development and application of technology to improve recovery from mature oil fields.
